Description/Purpose:

Students wishing to add or delete a course must access the web-based registration program to make changes to their schedules.

Details:

Students wishing to add or delete a course must access the web-based registration program to make changes to their schedules. Students should consult academic advisors for approval of the changes to class schedules prior to adding or dropping courses. Changes of schedule may be made through the seventh class day of the semester for traditional students both undergraduate and graduate students. For online classes, changes of schedule may be made through the seventh day from the start of the session including counting weekend days. In order to add variable-credit courses (including but not limited to internships, Independent Study, and applied music tutorials), students should contact the Office of the Registrar for instructions.

Students enrolled in scheduled academic calendar modules (usually of 6, 7 or 8 weeks), the December-January sessions, or any accelerated program schedule, may drop a course per the drop/add guidelines stated above. Students may not add a class after day one of the start of the module.

Incoming traditional freshmen, transfer or international students must be deposited and registered for classes by the start of the semester. If an incoming traditional freshman, transfer or international student has not been registered by the first day of classes but requests to begin the semester with SFU, the student's admissions counselor can submit an appeal on the student's behalf. The appeal will be reviewed by the Enrollment Review Committee and a decision for late admittance will be made on a case-by-case basis, focused on ensuring student success and class availability. Any student granted late admittance must sit in class by day six of the SFU add/drop period.
