Academic Ceremonies

Details:

Academic ceremonies are among the definers of an institution of higher learning. Saint Francis University is no exception. Institutions take their form from a number of celebrations and ceremonies that are woven throughout each academic year.

Saint Francis University officially announces each new year of instruction with an opening liturgy. All members of the faculty are welcomed to attend this event. All members of the faculty are welcomed to attend the President's convocation welcoming freshman students. This event occurs on the day on which new students come to campus for the fall semester. It consists of welcoming statements and encouragements from various members of the faculty and the administration.

Faculty, dressed in academic regalia, are encouraged to attend the President's Awards Convocation held each year in April. Faculty finalists for awards should attend, if possible. In this ceremony, the President recognizes the efforts of both faculty and students to create and sustain quality teaching, learning and discovery. Departmental awards are presented, the outstanding male and female students are recognized, and several major awards for faculty are announced.

Saint Francis University holds a Baccalaureate Mass and commencement ceremonies for undergraduate and graduate students. All faculty are invited to attend these ceremonies.
