Responsible Office: Academic Affairs Approved By: Faculty Senate Approved Date: 5/1/1978 Effective Date: 5/1/1978 Category: Faculty and Staff Description/Purpose: Professional Societies Details: Conventions and Trips The University encourages its staff to become active members of their respective learned and professional societies, active participation being understood to mean participation to an extent that does not interfere with normal duties at the University. A member's attendance at the various conventions requiring absence from class must be approved by the department chairperson and adequate provision made for class coverage. Wherever possible, the University will provide for partial compensation for those who represent the University at professional meetings. Dues and Memberships For institutional membership, the University is responsible for payment of dues. For all others, individuals pay personal membership dues. Approved by the Faculty Senate - 1978 |
