Service and Assistance Animal Policy

Details:

The Service and Assistance Animal Policy ensures that appropriate support is provided to students who need the aid of service animals to enable them to function fully as a member of the campus community, as well as students who require the utilization of an assistance animal in their residential area to enable more effective engagement as a student. Also, the policy directs compliance with the applicable regulations governing the presence of service and assistance animals on campus. This policy does not supersede the University's Pet policy but instead provides guidance regarding applicable exceptions for approved individuals. For more information contact the Residence Life Office or the Center for Academic Success.

Service and Comfort Animals Inquires: Saint Francis University is committed to providing appropriate access to its facilities and programs in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Fair Housing Act, and applicable state law. These procedures establish the scope of access and procedures for individuals who use service animals, who are accompanied by a service animal in training, and for students who are required to live in University housing who require a comfort animal as a reasonable accommodation to a disability. The University will determine, on a case-by-case basis, and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations and these procedures, whether a service or comfort animal may be present on University premises as a reasonable accommodation to a disability.
