Student Government Association Information

Details:

The Student Government Association (SGA) is the primary representative body of the undergraduate population of the University. The Senate is comprised of a diverse group of 38 Senators that are elected or appointed by their peers from various constituencies. Constituencies include each undergraduate class, each academic school, commuter students, residential students,  international students, Greeks, student-athletes, Campus Ministry, and much more. The SGA is the official vehicle for student opinion voiced to and from the University community, advocating a broad range of student needs and interests within the framework of the University's decision-making process.

SGA promotes leadership, service, and community and allocates student activity funds to recognized clubs and organizations to help further these priorities. Recent projects and initiatives include: the establishment of the food court at the Frankie's Campus Club, incorporation of block meal plans and meal-equivalencies at the food court, gaining approval for graduation adornments, the establishment of the Freshmen Leadership fellowship awarded to three incoming freshmen students annually, the expansion of the Clare/SGA Upperclassmen scholarship awarded to one member of each upper-class annually, and much more.

Elections are held in November of each year for any student wishing to run for a position. All Senate meetings are open to anyone who wishes to attend. To find out more email the SGA at sga@francis.edu, or visit the SGA office in upper JFK, inside the Center for Student Engagement.
